SOUTH SHORE

Szántódpusztai Majorság

Szántódpuszta

After a long stretch of reconstruction works, Szántódpusztai Majorság reopened its gates in December 2023. With its 1000 years of history and its 18th century built heritage, the manor offers today’s visitors plenty to discover. The permanent exhibitions housed in two of its buildings introduce visitors to the history of the plains and the lives of its past inhabitants, as well as the secrets of bread making in the frame of the “Wheat’s Way” themed display. The 20-hectare manor’s further attractions, aimed at nature-loving visitors, include a modern playground, a traditional barn and a corn crib, a chapel, and livestock.

Szántódpuszta dinner party with chef Viktor Segal
In the frame of the dinner party, we’ll cook a “pince” beef stew with a unique twist, and serve the legendary plum pie of the manor, based on a 300-year recipe, baked in a folk oven by Tamás Koós of the Mesés Bakery. If you are one for fabulous food and spots with a distinctive air, this dinner party is the place to be! The cherry on top? You can enjoy the pálinka shots of Szőke-Farkas Pálinkaház this evening.

The pièce de résistance of the complex is the 25-meter lookout tower, which can be conquered via 166 stairs or by the elevator if you are less adventurous or have a physical impairment. At the top, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Lake from a (combined) height of 70 metres.

Accordingly, the winery Jakab Badacsony (est. 2018) focuses on this specific grape variety: out of 14 hectares, 10 are dedicated to Pinot noir. The grapes from organic farming are processed along different concepts: in addition to the batch boasting light fruitiness, they also make an elegant, Burgundy-style, honest-to-God red wine. The remaining 4 hectares currently produce Kéknyelű, Vulcanus and Syrah bottles. All wines are made along minimal intervention practices.
